Family Initiatives

Our common vision

The work of all these committees is guided by our strong commitment to our mantra: Ife Adika Nwanne. We are one family! To facilitate the work of our families in the diaspora and in Nigeria, we decided to form committees for economic activities, family celebrations, education, family tree/history, health affairs, political developments, and networking.

Committee on Traditions and family history

Members: Chiedu | Hyacinth

This committee will focus our efforts on the broad issues of creating an atmosphere for improving the feelings of family unity and mutual support, evidenced in our mantra and guiding philosophy of Ifeadike Nwanne (Nwanne is supreme)

Committee on Family Celebrations

(including family reunions outside Nigeria)

Members: Stella | Karen Amaka | Kene | Phidelma Nkechi.

This group is responsible for planning and implementing designs for such family celebrations as reunions, birthdays, and graduations, among others.

Committee on Family History/Achievements

Members: Stella | Karen Amaka | Charles Chiedu | Kene

Responsible for research, compilation and promotion of notable achievements and accomplishments of Okigbo family members like Dr Pius and Christopher Okigbo.

Committee on Family Tree

Members: Charles Chiedu | Ben Obi | Franklin | Kene | Mike Iweze

Will be involved in creating a family tree that shows the generational growth from the time of Eze-Okigbo to the present. Our family tree efforts have been integrated into the activities of the Family History Committee, which are ongoing and yielding desirable dividends.

Committee on Economic Enterprises

Members: Emma | Franklin | Nkechi | Charles Chiedu

This has responsibilities for identifying and creating economic empowerment engagements and partnerships for business developments that will benefit different target groups including youths, women, rural and city dwellers, and people of different educational levels. 

Committee on Educational Development

Members: Charles Chiedu | Sussie | Felix | Emma

This takes responsibility for promoting further studies in Nigeria and abroad by providing information on opportunities for scholarships, sponsorships, and assistantships. We agreed to work towards adopting mentees in the diaspora and in Nigeria to demonstrate our belief in Ife Adika Nwanne. Our target is to annually assist at least two family members to take advantage of opportunities for studying abroad.

Committee on Health Affairs

Members: Nkechi | Ada Oguchi | Chinelo | Felix

This team is committed to helping family members and others to know about important health issues so they can take better care of themselves in the diaspora and in Nigeria. 

Committee on Networking/IT

Members: Franklin | Ben Obi | Kene

This team is responsible for ensuring smooth interactions and collaborations among all other committees and serving as a vital link between us and our external publics. This is led by Emma who is willing to welcome other members who are interested in promoting inter-group relations.

Committee on Political Development

Members: Franklin | Emma | Sussie

This group has responsibility for keeping us all updated on the unfolding developments about elections, providing infrastructure at home, and exploring opportunities for family members to show more interest in Nigerian politics.
